Bards Tale (part 21)

It would have worked to if I hadn't asked that guard for directions. They then rudely threatened my life and returned me to the caravan I was with.

So I wondered around the market place with the caravan and then headed to the town known as "The Dragons Eye". On the way we learned that it had gotten it's name due to the fact that so many stones around the city had had continuous light cast on them that the whole mountain they were located on that the entire area glowed both day and night.

We hastily departed their company after this happened and headed towards the last city-state on our journey. Upon reaching this town, I performed and we took care of our business with the leader.

For some reason they kept their women and elderly separated in a walled section of the city. Well this just seemed a little unjust to me, so I tried to go to that side of the city to 'entertain' the ladies (if you know what I mean).

I decided it wasn't worth my time to try and perform for these people, mainly because it seemed I may have lost what little money I had managed to gain in the past couple of days if I had. So I offered my services to the caravan in their discussions with the leader and his 'posse'. They seemed to be a little prissy and disgruntled all-in-all.

Just when I thought things were going alright, the cleric decided he wanted to paint the inside of their room with vomit. It was sad really, especially since he just kept on and on. I mean come on, nobody else was losing their lunch.

After this battle we finished our journey and made trade with the people of the said city-state. I performed for the people of the town while the caravan took care of their business with the leader of the town.

After this we headed south to the next city-state on our route. This town was a little shabby if I do say so may self, but then again it didn't seem like they cared much about their appearances much less the appearance of their town.

As I sang of their glory in battle, the beasts grabbed a horse and another grabbed the rider of said horse. The beasts seemed to bite them in half in one bite. After their initial attack however, they caught sight of me in all my glory and retreated into the ground.

But one of my party members was so inspired by me that he leapt into one of the holes after the beasts and slew them with a fierceness matched only by my magnificence.

After a short time, my group showed up and begged for my return. After some tense negotiations, I was released to my people, though the bastards kept all my possessions.

But then again my group is not as gifted as I in the art of negotiation. After I had regained my composure and forgiven my group for having let me be captured, we continued towards the city-state. As I sat on the carpet, suddenly there burst forth from the ground a group of mantis-looking monsters. Had I had my weapon I would have dispatched these foul beasts, but as it was I could only sing to inspire my fellow party members.

I, being on a flying carpet near the back of the party started inspiring the rest of the group. Apparently I did such a good job inspiring everyone that they leapt from the carpet to go and fight these beasts.

They were in such a hurry that they forgot that I was still on the carpet, so I jumped down to fight off the hordes of monsters now swarming the carpet. I fought a hard and valiant fight but eventually I was over-taken. After they had subdued me they chained me and drug me off to be sacrificed to their gods. And me, being as attractive as I am, was stripped down naked and forced to march along with them.

I started to become worried that I may never return home again after a week solid of my entertaining these children day in and day out, not to mention that I was starting to long for the touch of a woman which I am of course used to. Then one day when I was nearly at my wits end entertaining these two hell-spawned brats, I was transported back to the tavern, which was now empty. I then went to locate the rest of my party and find out what was going on.

After all this was finalized, we escorted a caravan to some of the northern city-states. Well, the first day we ran into a small army of evil monsters, bent on conquering us all.

All was going well at the party. They were all hanging on my every word of the tales of our travels to this point and I was entertaining everyone like the superb artist I am when out of nowhere I was suddenly transported, through the will of (insert deity name here), to a home with two children.

I, of course, was a little stunned as to what had just happened but I took it in stride and decided to entertain these children, seeing as they were being imprisoned against their will by the 'Lord of the Castle'.

Because I had done such a great job on my dealings with the people, they let us have about a week to relax in the floating city before sending us to continue our duties. During this time I decided I would spend a small portion of my fortune on a "Helm of Comprehending languages and Reading Magic" to make my negotiations go a little smoother.

I was offered such a reasonable deal that I threw in a little extra for Agent 96 to spend on himself and of course he insisted on throwing me a party. I could blame him for wanting to do so, I agreed to attend his little celebration in my honor that night.

We told him of our resurrected ally and of my masterful diplomatic arrangements with those we had spoke with thus far. He then asked who they trusted most and, of course, it was unanimous that I was that person, which is to be expected when you are as good as me at what I do.

So I accompanied him back to the city where I spent some time getting some much needed Rest (a nice warm bed) & Relaxation (a nice hot woman). The next couple of days I spent explaining, in detail, what all had been discussed between me and the city leaders. When we arrived at the city three days, or so, later I re-joined the party and brought the floating city to finalize the alliance.

The next day we left towards where we had been dropped off in hope of finding Agent 96 still there. Upon arriving at the location, we discovered that he was in fact no longer there.

So we set up a camp for the night and slept. In the morning, Agent 96 appeared before us out of a portal which led back to the city from which we lived and asked us of what we had accomplished.

We then took the dragon to the city toward which we were traveling where we were treated to a feast in honor of our slaying a dragon. After the feast we met with the leaders of the village and discussed our treaty.

After I explained to them the situation, they agreed to ally with us on the grounds that we built a guard tower in their city and left people to watch over it.

My allies continued tossing pillars of fire at it as I steadily whittled away at it's leg. I took a mighty blow from the lashing claws of the dragon, which knocked me to the ground, but I staggered to my feet not ready to surrender to the ruthless beast with which I found myself fighting.

Suddenly a wall of fire appeared before the beast, blocking it's escape. I then found my sword plunged into the beast and it fell, for victory was ours.

Bards Tale (part 7)

We told them we would, and by 'would' we meant if we came across any we would slay them, and then planned to travel to the larger village due west. After a feast, some harmless flirting and a good nights sleep we left, with a couple of guides and a dog sled, towards a city which apparently had no name.

At the beginning of our journey over the mountain range, we spotted a white dragon flying over head and we took cover so as to keep it from picking us off. As we started hiding, a dense fog rolled in and the dragon dropped down closer to see what was in the fog. When the dragon got a little to close for comfort, we started throwing pillars of fire at it. This of course knocked it to the ground, where I then rushed to it's feet and started striking it with my "Sword of Flame-Tongue" with an all mighty fury.

The next morning I woke up due to the others being rather loud, so I fumbled to my feet and rushed outside to see what all the commotion was about. Apparently the rest of the party had decided to kill a group of lizard-y looking monsters without even waking me up.

So, after the druid, whom I had named Mr. Twig, reincarnated one of our fallen party members we continued to the village. We arrived at the village and I used my superior communication skills to get them to agree to join our cause in exchange for our helping defeat the dragons which were tormenting their land.

After watching the barren wasteland of ice for what seemed like hours, we were tossed off onto the ice and given instructions to search out and ally as many of the local towns as we could to the empire we were from.

We were now traveling across a desert, nothing but ice as far as you could see, towards where a group of villagers were believed to be. That first night we set up camp and slept on the icy ground. Lucky for me I built an igloo.

I awoke the next morning next to her and headed off to guard my post seeing as the time had come to head off on our mission.

I sang songs of our fridged fate before being silenced by the man in charge, due to the fact that we were already in an almost arctic climate.

I continued my perfect, for lack of a better word, performance and was joined by some of the lovely ladies with which I had been accompanied to the tavern. I, of course, let the ladies gather the gold which was gladly being tossed our way by the worshiping crowd.

I continued drinking and singing for a couple of hours more, until I slipped off the stage in a drunken twirl. After a swift ending to a near perfect evening I wondered home with a nice harem girl.

Bards Tale (part 2)

I met up with a couple of guys I was to be traveling with, Agent 96 and a couple of his rather lovely friends. After we met, we decided to go to the tavern to discuss business in a relaxing atmosphere. After my first drink I felt the inspiration to perform and so I did. I got up on the table and started to sing and dance my way across the tavern, towards the stage.

My performance, as usual, was awe inspiring and one of the guys I was with, I think he might have been a druid, jumped up beside me to try and compliment my performance. However, in his trying to match my level of excellence he somehow managed to start choking on a stick and so left the tavern while I drew away some of the attention.

Well hello there travelers. Come have a seat as I tell my tale. Let me see, where should I begin? Well, it all started when I was arrested for doing what it is that bards do best, entertaining.

I don't see why her husband was so upset, I was merely giving her a few pointers on how to improve her love life. But anyway, I was released in exchange for my services in the upcoming mission to be set forth by Agent 96.
